“We’re not the ones wearing the brace. We’re the ones finding something that works for you. So it’s really important that the patient and family are involved in the decision making process.”

About Anne

Anne Whitney, B.Sc. CO(c)
Certified Orthotist

Compassion and a driving need to provide health care service that has a profound impact on a person’s quality of life are part of the job description for a Certified Orthotist at Boundless. And Anne excels in all these areas.

Custom orthotics are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Nor is the process necessarily quick and easy. In many cases, it can take a few adjustments and follow-up sessions working with our Registered Technicians RTO(c) to design the best orthotic for an individual. It also involves taking the time to understand a patient’s needs and goals. And it’s the human factors, engaging with patients and working with them to move beyond their limitations, that Anne finds most satisfying in her work.

That said, Anne’s job is not without its challenges. Many aspects of the health care system function independently of one another, which can affect practice guidelines and patient care. In the long term, she would like to see more collaboration among professionals such as orthotists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and physicians to help improve orthotic management.

Prior to attending George Brown College, Anne graduated from McGill University with an Honours B.Sc. Science in Kinesiology. She is working on completing her masters degree in Rehabilitation Science.
