Getting the Right Care

Shoulder Orthoses (SO)

These braces are used to provide stability and support to the shoulder to promote healing and/or reduce pain. A sling is one style of this type; others include abduction restraints, airplane splints, and figure-8 clavicle braces.

This device may be suitable for individuals with:

  • Soft tissue and nerve injuries including rotator cuff tears
  • Subluxation and dislocations
  • Post-surgical trauma
